Are you excited about the arrival of fall this year? I am! In fact, I’m so excited about it, that this year I’ve decided that I’m going to decorate my house to celebrate its arrival!

Hello Fall! 🍂👋

I have been looking for fall home decor ideas that will work from about October to end of November, which is when the Christmas decorations will take over. I also wanted ideas that didn’t look too “dollar store” or too rustic. I’d like something that more or less fits in with the rest of my decor.

That can only mean one thing: off to the Pinterest I go to look for ideas and inspiration! 😬 #favoritething

→ You can follow me here on Pinterest for a huge collection of inspirational decor ideas! I also have a Fall Decor board packed full of tons of ideas!

You don’t actually have to use the traditional oranges, rusts and reds to make it feel like autumn at home. A look that I am really loving is the use of minimalist white pumpkins, adorned with tons of fresh greenery.

Pumpkin DIYs that are perfect for Autumn!

Things that remind me of the fall season are pumpkins, wreaths, crunchy leaves, spiced lattes, wool scarves, blankets, candles and home-cooked comfort food. I really wanted to incorporate some of these lovely fall reminders into my decor.

With that in mind, I came up with this list of great fall decor ideas that I think would be really cozy and fairly easy to pull off.

1. DIY Pumpkin Garland

I love this DIY pumpkin pie garland! They are really easy to make – maybe an idea for a craft to do with your kid – and would look so cute hanging on the rim of a side table or on your mantel at Thanksgiving! Get the tutorial here.

2. DIY Fall Succulent Planters

Check out these ADORABLE pumpkin succulent planters!! It would actually be a crime not to make these, they’re so easy! Make a few and cluster them on your mantel or on a side table. The perfect chic fall decor!

Here is the super simple tutorial.

3. DIY Pumpkin Watercolor Cards

Try making some ultra-cute pumpkin watercolors with just a couple of items. You can hang them around the house, or use them as invitations to your Halloween party or Thanksgiving dinner! You really don’t need to be a skilled artist to pull these off, they’re so easy!

Unfortunately as of 2022, the tutorial is no longer available. 😔

4. DIY Painted Monochrome Pumpkins

And check out how perfect these cheap plastic dollar store pumpkins turned out with some paint!

I would probably get these cheap Dollar Tree pumpkins and go to town with all the different shapes and sizes! Only $1.25 each!

5. DIY Marbled Pumpkins

Or what about these amazing indigo marbled pumpkins? All you need is some blue nail polish.

Get the tutorial here!

6. DIY Fall Wreath

Southern Living provides not one but 18 DIY wreath tutorials on their website!! The tutorials don’t provide any step by step photo instructions, only text, so maybe not the easiest to follow along for those of us who are more visual. In any case there are lots of great ideas here!

I love the one picture above with the pale yellow fall tones and copper ribbon, it would look so striking against a dark front door!

Thanksgiving Tablescapes

Here is a collection of inspiring Thanksgiving tablescapes that I am in love with!

They’re not over the top but still manage to look extremely elegant.

7. Monochrome Fall Tablescape with Antlers

Tone on Tone (website defunct)

This has got to be one of the prettiest centerpieces I’ve ever seen!! I guess you’ll need some antlers to recreate this though 😶.

There are plenty of faux antlers to purchase on Amazon if you’d like to recreate this tablescape.

8. Fall Tablescape with Brass and Copper Accents

This tablescape from Rooms For Rent is fabulous – the pale colors of the pumpkins mixed with fresh greenery and copper and brass accents is so elegant! (FYI – the greenery is lovely bay leaf garland!)

9. Personalized Placemats For Your Thanksgiving Table Setting

This is probably one of my favorite ideas – so simple and yet so effective! Grab a white paint marker, bust out your calligraphy skills and paint your guests’ names on some brown kraft paper! It’s a gorgeous look that everyone will love!

Need brushing up on your calligraphy skillz? Watch this quick but incredibly useful 3 minute video!

10. Luxe Gold and Velvet Thanksgiving Tablescape

Ahhh wonderful velvet pumpkins! With velvet trending like crazy in home decor, there is no better time than now to embrace a luxurious velvet gourd!

These velvet pumpkins from LoveFeast Shop are exquisite!

You can buy the pumpkins single, in sets, decorated with feathers and even with Swarowski crystals. Divine! They would look amazing as part of a centerpiece for your Thanksgiving dinner (as you can see in the lovely photo above by Randi Garrett!).

For more budget-friendly velvet pumpkins, you can buy a case of 36 different 4″x4″ velvet pumpkins from the Dollar Tree. I’m bad at math, but even I can figure out that they only cost $1 each!

Or, try making some yourself with this DIY tutorial!

What do you think? Do you have any favorite fall decor ideas that you would recommend? I would love to hear about them!
