Brown is definitely becoming the color “du jour” in interior design these days, often being referred to as the new black. It comes in a variety of shades and is often used to create a warm and inviting atmosphere. Whether you opt for lighter tans and beiges, or darker chocolates and mahoganies, brown can add a touch of sophistication to any room.

Brown can be just as striking as black but with a cozier, slightly less ‘edgy’ feel; perfect for anyone trying to achieve that comforting home vibe while also maintaining contrast and drama. Brown color schemes evoke a strong connection with nature which is one reason why it’s become so popular today!

The color brown is a great choice for interiors due to its warm, inviting feel. It can be used as an accent or primary color in any room of the house and has the ability to make a space feel cozy and comfortable.

Brown also pairs nicely with other colors, such as white, gray, blue, but even with striking, saturated colors such as yellow, red and orange!, making it easy to create interesting visual interest in your home. Furthermore, brown works well with natural materials like wood or stone which can add texture and depth to a room. With its versatility and cozy appeal, it’s no wonder brown is having a resurgence in popularity. So don’t be afraid to experiment with brown in your home—it could end up being the perfect color scheme for you!

Wood plank walls are a beautiful design feature that can bring additional warmth and detail to any interior. Whether used as an accent wall or throughout the entire space, wood plank walls can be an excellent way to incorporate the natural warmth of brown into your decor.

Not everyone would agree with this statement, however! Some homeowners feel like wood plank walls can make a space look too rustic or overwhelming, or just plain dated. In some cases it’s true – it depends how you do it 😅 In any case there is no right or wrong answer, as everyone’s style and taste is different.

With so many variations of brown tones out there, from chocolatey-brown to coffee-inspired hues, you’ll be hard-pressed not to find something that looks beautiful in your home. Whether you plan on decking out an entire room in shades of brown, or just adding some accents here and there, there are plenty of ways to incorporate this timeless color into virtually any home aesthetic.

Ever considered a brown kitchen? I’m guessing not – dark brown cabinets are not at the top of most people’s dream kitchen list 🙂 But what about wood cabinets? That might be a way to add warmth and texture. You can pair your wood cabinets with light-colored countertops, like quartz or marble, to balance it out. Continue the same material to backsplash to create a cohesive look.

How to Decorate with Brown

There are hints on how to incorporate brown in the pictures I’ve shared in this post – of course you can always turn to paint for a dramatic transformation at a relatively low cost, but you can also bring in rich brown wood antiques, textiles, accent chairs, even tiles, to create a warm and inviting space.

Brown leather sofas are a classic choice, offering timeless sophistication to any room. They come in a variety of styles ranging from traditional to modern, and as a bonus, leather sofas are also highly durable and easy to keep clean. And if you’re not into leather, there are plenty of fabric options available too.

Brown rugs are a great way to add texture and color to your room. Since brown is such a versatile hue, it’s possible to find rugs that will match nearly any existing decor. Plus, many shades of brown are neutral enough to fit in pretty much any space. Choose a rug with a subtle chocolate color pattern or go for a jute rug, for a wonderful dose of texture and warmth! You can never go wrong with a jute rug.

Feeling less daring or maybe working with a small budget? Start with small touches like a few throw pillows, or a beautiful earth-toned piece of art and see how you like living with it. In addition to painting walls and adding decorative accents, there are other subtle ways to bring brown into a room’s decor. For example, you could hang up patterned window treatments with a brown hue, or even pick out lamps and lighting fixtures with warm bronze finishes. Warm toned wood picture frames on the walls are also a great way to bring in brown colors.

Incorporating these kinds of subtle touches can really bring out the warmth of brown and create an inviting atmosphere for your living space.
